Interestingly...
The headlines of major attacks at Target, Yahoo, etc, etc.. never seem to mention the actual damage to individuals. Companies give away a few free months of "credit monitoring" -- and everyone forgets about it.

Has anyone come across more in-depth articles on what happens to all the data that is lost? It's sold to nefarious black hats but to what end? Just contributing to the rampant identity theft problems that already exist? How can anyone really protect themselves?

Re: Consumer
@mpourayan Sorry to hear that! Let's hope the machine-automated solutions do more to help than hinder us cybersecurity-wise in the long run.

Some further "food 4 thought" for all to consider:
How closely is Big Brother watching you?

How paranoid is too paranoid when it comes to privacy and security?

BY ADAM TURNER

End-to-end encryption is the new security mantra, but how far will you go to foil the thought police?

Re: Consumer
Just this week, I fell victim to another hack..Still in shock--the problem is we're at the mercy of those whom we have no control whatsoever on--and that's the profound challenge--as they all race to get things increasingly "machine-automated", we're left behind.

Consumer
The biggest worry I have as a consumer is compromised devices that have a lot of personal data.

Right now, that would seem to count cars and medical devices as the most problematic. As a consumer those are the ones that scare me the most for sure.
