Re: More M&A for sure...
I love this "smart energy" distinction. Utilities have spent tons of time already preparing for a sensor-based world, although they have called it smart grid. I wonder if there is a branding push in place by certain companies to get the smart energy name out there?

Re: Regulations
@Ariella Naming an actual amount is way above my pay grade, but I would guess it would have to be signifigant enough to make these companies realize that the standards are importnant to the safety and security of the consumers that keep them in business.

Re: Regulations
@afwriter How high would they have to be to really make an impact on some companies? It seems Google gets slammed with penalties with some regularity, but the amounts are not signficant for a company of that size and scope.

Regulations
I am the most interested to see what regulations, if any, are imposed and how far they will go in terms of standards and penalties.

@mhhf1ve you also anticipate that most would go the acquisition route?  What about strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts?

More M&A for sure...
> "Telecom operators will be under pressure to grow IoT revenues faster, possibly through acquisitions."

Yup. I think there will be many many more acquisitions by telcos to get IoT ramped up more quickly. I just don't think telcos have the innovation drive internally to get IoT off the ground by themselves, but maybe some other folks here think otherwise...?
