@faryl, that could work!  At least there would not be deportation and stopped immigration!

Re: Where there's a will...
@faryl, excellent assessment - with which I totally agree.  Particularly here in California I believe there is too much invested (ie SV and Ports for interenational trade) to simply walk away without dedicated and sustained efforts to put these shining examples of the 21st century economy forward.

Maybe it will turn out to be a plus!

Happy #2017 to all here at iOT--Unfortunately I did not--hope you have time to share the link as our deliberations continue on this profound subject in the new year.   The need to embrace the future is ever so crucial beyond Words.

Re: Where there's a will...
I don't see Silicon Valley letting anything get in the way of advancement of technology, I think that we may see SV flex its economic muscles (along with the rest of CA) as a way of resisting (or protesting) policy changes or supporting the new administration. I'm getting the sense that even people who are reticent to support Trump are willing to overlook that if it means being in a position to "protect" the country from his bad decisions.

Very true that we should feel privileged to be part of tech revolution. We surely will be optimistic for a good reason that we can handle challenges as we have been used to overcoming such challenges. Let's be optimistic an dstau tuned.

Re: Where there's a will...
Those of us who have had the privilege to be part of the "tech revolutoin" have to, by nature, be optimistic--there is no other choice as I see it especially as we are continually faced with challenges (and even threats to our own jobs with automation and other profound challenges).  Mr. Trump, to paraphrase The Speaker of the US House, is unique--whether that uniqueness is transformational remains to be seen.

Wishin' you all the most joyous of Christmas Holidays.

:)

@mporaryan:

Ofcourse new thinking is always welcome. We have witnessed that in elction and people are surely looking for change.

Politics aside, everyone is very keen on how things are going to shape up in near future. I clearly can sense there is mix of curiosity, enthusiasm, insecurity, apprehension and concern at the same time. No single person out there has a clear say on how future will shape up. We just need to wait and see.

Without getting too political, it is going to be even more challenging than I thought as I was editing out a year-end column for the Daily Outsider as the drama in the UN was going on--it seems as if the new thinking that is vital for success-right?

In an industry where production yield and efficiency are tantamount to success, quickly identifying and correcting defects in the manufacturing process is critical. The customers of Optimal+ operate in production environments where errors related to yield and efficiency measurements can lead to losses of millions of dollars per year within a single plant. By implementing Vertica, Optimal+ is able to speed up analytical insights, combine data from different productions processes and gain visibility across the whole supply chain – leading to improved yield, quality and productivity for semiconductor and electronics manufacturers.

Join Alon Malki, Chief Architect at Optimal+, and Jeff Healey, Director of Product Marketing at HPE Vertica, to hear how advanced analytics and manufacturing intelligence can drive success in Industrial IoT. On this webinar you’ll learn:

  • Why HPE Vertica Analytics Platform is purpose built for IoT data
  • The challenges Optimal+ faced when developing a solution for IoT analytics
  • How Optimal+ leverages HPE Vertica to create an ideal big data architecture
